Assignment #6 Polar Opposites

For this assignment I chose to do the polar opposites of old and young. I chose this one becuase I just got a puppy, and I also have a 14 year old dog. I thought it would be really cool to have them sit in the same room and take separate pictures of them to make it look like they were sitting next to each other. I tried that idea first, but it did not work out as I thought it would because it was very difficult to get them to sit still. Instead, I decided to take a picture of each of them separately whenever I found them sitting still. After a while of waiting for one of them to sit still, I managed to get pictures of each dog's face. After I have good pictures of their faces I went into the editing process. First, I decided to make the picture of the older dog more dull and darker colors. Then I left the picture of my puppy untouched color wise becuase it had very vivid colors to begin with. Manual F/4.5 ISO:1600 Shutter Speed:1/100 18-55mm lens Manual F/4.5 ISO:1600 Shutter Speed: 1/400 18-55mm lens When I first looked at Siskind's work, I immediately noticed that most of his pictures were black and white. I decided that I wanted to make my pictures black and white becuase that seemed to be one of the most prominent features in his work. Another thing I noticed that I really liked was the great texture in his photographs. When I thought about texture, bricks popped into my mind almost immediately. That is why I decided to take a picture of these bricks with a really interesting texture. Lastly, I noticed that all of his pictures are very focused so I tried to get very focused pictures.

For I am prepared I am going to have 3 or 4 seniors wearing their college sweatshirts and uniform skirts. I am still deciding between having them stand in front of the entrance of the school and having them in the library. For I am friend I am going to have a group of friends in their uniforms do what they always do while eating lunch and try to capture their friendship in a photograph.
