Assignment #6 Polar Opposites

Inline image 1

For this assignment I chose to do the polar opposites of old and young. I chose this one becuase I just got a puppy, and I also have a 14 year old dog. I thought it would be really cool to have them sit in the same room and take separate pictures of them to make it look like they were sitting next to each other. I tried that idea first, but it did not work out as I thought it would because it was very difficult to get them to sit still. Instead, I decided to take a picture of each of them separately whenever I found them sitting still. After a while of waiting for one of them to sit still, I managed to get pictures of each dog's face. After I have good pictures of their faces I went into the editing process. First, I decided to make the picture of the older dog more dull and darker colors. Then I left the picture of my puppy untouched color wise becuase it had very vivid colors to begin with. Then, I cropped half of each dog's face to put them next to each other and make it look like one face even though it is two. I feel like the execution of the final diptych is good, but it could have been better. I could not figure out a way to crop the face so that the noses and eyes lined up exactly because the older dog has a bigger face than the younger dog. Also, I wish I could have gotten a better picture of the older dog, but he was surprisingly harder to get a picture than the puppy. I also wish that I could have taken the two pictures in the same room so everything would look similar. In conclusion, it could have been better but I am still proud of my work.
